Mixing Art, Dance, Visual Theatre and Music – Istituto d’Istruzione Superiore “F. Filelfo”

Starting from the iconographic arts, the images of the 9 Muses on the ceiling of the Vaccaj Theatre became the object of theoretical and practical research and study. In the choreographic workshops and consultations, ‘keys to movement’, dynamic qualities, use of space and time were identified for each Muse. By allowing the classes to choose which Muse to ‘animate’ and how, the most coherent, expressive and appropriate dance techniques and musical styles to represent each Muse were identified. We used classical and neo-classical dance technique, contemporary dance technique and dance theater.  Each Muse, painted on the ceiling of the theater, was studied and ‘updated’ using artificial intelligence and careful choreographic and musical research. We then staged different styles of dance and music, supported by the visual arts, using original images and reworked by the student-led AI. The images were generated and then selected based on the original muses, creative processes and expressive purposes identified in the Dance Techniques workshop activities.
