Research and Design of the Art Work – Istituto d’Istruzione Superiore “F. Filelfo”

The study of the majestic ceiling painting of the theater built by Giuseppe Lucatelli revealed several interesting and fascinating aspects of the 9 Muses.  Therefore, an attempt was made to capture, in the painting and through numerous in-depth studies, the expressions and details of the nine most fascinating women of ancient mythology, the handmaidens of the gods who had the task of defending, inspiring and promoting art. The study of the Muses also gave rise to the desire to understand inspiration and the ‘spark of genius’ that gives rise to an artistic production. The teachers and students of the Liceo Coreutico Filelfo brought theoretical insights into the dance studio and initiated workshop research activities, starting from the images of the ceiling of the Nicola Vaccaj Theatre and the characteristics of each of the Nine Muses, to produce choreographic works and performances. Through dance, the 9 Muses and their arts came to life.  Dance, music and iconographic images created a three-dimensional, richly varied dance performance.
